Khonoma is a beautiful little place not far away from the capital city of Kohima. It has many unique aspects apart from its lush green forested habitat. The Angamis are famed warriors and resisted British rule from the 1830s to 1880 facing heavy casualties.
Khonoma is also famous for its Community conservation initiated by notifying around 200 ha as the Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary. Hunting here is totally banned making it a safe haven for the flora and fauna to thrive.
