Windermere
Estate, is where the manicured tea gardens merge with the lush green forests

Farm
House
A split level building of five cozy rooms with a large communal veranda
and an interacting room, a wooden floored dining room and balcony with a
view of the mountains.
Valley View Rooms
These are four rooms set in verdant gardens with a lavish veranda and typical
plantation home interior having a view of the Chithirapuram valley below.
Cottages
Six exquisite rooms owing their names to the vegetation around (Cardamom,
Coffee and Vanilla ). The cottages are large having an area of 600 square
feet each. Even the king sized beds, the huge bathroom and heavy furniture
leave enough space to swing a few hats. The huge window frames do justice
to the picture perfect mountains beyond.

Cuisine
is traditional Malayali, Oriental, continental and family recipes [ Sit down
Table d’hote menu ].Dining at Windermere is exclusively for in-house guests.
Pine Top
Similar to an alpine chalet, the Pine Top restaurant gives a homely feel
with its adjacent pantry. Housed in the farm house having a spectacular view
of the mountain, it could be used as a private dining for a group of up to
fifteen.
The Barn
A lavish (an expansive) dining with an old fashioned fire place and wooden
pillars, it has an old world charm. On top of the dining is a library with
books and metarials on Plantation, Nature and a range of other subjects.
Boulder Garden
Tucked under a big boulder, this an ideal spot for barbeques and campfire.
Enjoy a variety of grilled meat, fish and vegetables served here. The blacksmith’s
bellow gives it a very rustic feel.
The Hut
Snacks, sizzlers and fruits are
served. Built in native Kerala style under a tribal home like thached roof
with wooden blocks as furniture, redifines the connection with nature.

Trekking
Surrounded by cardamom plantation, tea plantations and mountains on all
sides, the options available are plenty.
Cardamom Walk
(4km/ 2hr) A walk through the Windermere Estate, a cardamom plantation is
a treat for a naturalist. With a vast variety of evergreen trees under the
shade of which the cardamom is cultivated. The walk is 4 Km long and the normal
duration is around two hours.
Mountain Trek
(7km) Sourrounding Windermere Estate are the steep mountains of the Western
Ghats which is an ideal venue for a trekking enthusiast. This 4 hr guided
trek is approximately 7 km long giving you the picturesque view of the colonial
town of Munnar.
Waterfall Trek
This four hour trek of 9 Km through the beautifully landscaped tea plantation
and intermittend woods takes you to the Attukadu waterfalls. An ideal spot
for a picnic.
Sight seeing :
Mattupetty: Famous for its Indo-Swiss livestock project, Mattupetty is situated
at a height of 1700 m and is just 13 km from Munnar. The Mattupetty Lake and
Dam, just a short distance from the ffarm, is a very beautiful picnic spot.
Lock Heart Gap : Lock heart gap is ideally located for adventure tourism.
The fresh mountain air, the mist-clad hills and panoramic view make it worthy
of a visit.
Eravikulam Natioanal Park: (15 Km from Munnar) the 97 Sq. Km park is home
to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The Anamudi peak (2695) is located in the
southern region of the park.
Tea Museum: (Munnar Town) A visit to the tea museum enlightens you about
the art of tea making. An encounter with very interesting pieces of history
and antiques of Munnar is guranteed during a guided tour of the mini Tea factory
in the museum.
Top Station: (32 Km from Munnar) 1700m above sea level, this is the highest
point on the Munnar -Kodaikanal road. The rare Neelakuranji (strobilanthus)
belongs to this region. This plant blooms once every twelve years bathing
the hillsides in bright blue. Top station also offers panoramic view of the
neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.
Marayoor: (40Km from Munnar) This is the only place in Kerala that has natural
sandal wood trees. The caves (muniyaras) with murals and relic from the New
Stone Age civilization and the children's park spread across a hectare of
land under the canopy of a single Banyan tree are of great interest to tourist.
Thoovanam waterfall and Rajiv Gandhi National Park are also nearby.
