The homestay has 4 rooms with attached bath and 2 rooms with a common
bath. The meals are provided here and buffet style and is cooked with
utmost care and personal touch. It is a cobination of traditional coorgi
food and continental.

is also a private river overlooking the strech of the beautiful mountains
where you can enjoy the solitude of nature and a dip in the cool waters
also get to spot a variety of coluorful birds here. For those who don't
want the Brahmagiri trek there is smaller trek called the Ramgiri trek,
where you can spot wild amimals and enjoy the breathtaking view.

TREKKING IN BRAHMAGIRI
( 02 kms from The JADE)
Brahmagiri Hill is a peak in the Western Ghats of South India. Brahmagiri
is situated on the border between Wayanad District of Kerala state on
the south and Coorg District in Karnataka on the north side. Brahmagiri
Hill at 1608 m height, is a scenic tourist attraction. Narimale peak and
the Brahmagiri peak can be trekked from the base of Iruppu falls. Narimale
camp is 4.5 km from Iruppu falls and can be covered in 1.5 to 2.5 hours
depending on your fitness. From the camp, you can trek to Narimale Peak,
which is about 1.5 km, and takes around 1.5 hrs to go and come back. Brahmagiri
Peak is 5 kms and takes around 2 to 2.5 hours to climb up. Another place
to visit is Munekal Caves, which is 3.5 kms from the camp. Munekal caves
is called as Pakshi Patalam at Kerala side of the sanctuary.
IRUPPU FALLS (04 kms
from The JADE)
A stream flowing down the Brahmagiri hill range, plunges down 170 feet
in two stages with a resounding roar into a rocky valley surrounded by
dense forest. The Iruppu falls can be approached through a climbing path
of one km from the Rameshwara Temple, located near the Lakshmana Theertha
river. Iruppu is also ideal for trekking. A forest trail from Iruppu falls
leads to the Brahmagiri peak (5700 feet). Ideal time for trekking is between
November and February.
NAGARAHOLE GAME SANCTUARY ( 10 kms from The JADE )
The Nagarahole (meaning snake stream in Kannada) sanctuary derives its
name from a serpentine river which flows through the park. The 640 sq km
of gently undulating terrain at the foothills of the Brahmagiri hills is
covered with thick tropical forest, grassy swamps and numerous rivers and
streams. The Forest Department conducts tours along well-defined routes
for tourists, in the early mornings and evenings. One can be sure of seeing
the bison, elephant, spotted deer, sambhar, barking deer, wild boar, mongoose,
peakcock, jungle fowl and many other birds and animals. The enchanting 247
square-mile park was originally designated as a game sanctuary. Nagarhole,
in the Coffee land of Coorg was declared a National park in 1974.
WAYANAD SANCTUARY ( 08 kms from The JADE )
The term Wayanad literally means 'land of swamps'. It is one of the prominent
wildlife sanctuaries of Kerala. This is also a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere
reserve, contiguous with Madumalai sanctuary in neighbouring Tamil Nadu
and Bandipur Sanctuary in Karnataka, covering an area of approximately
500 sq. kms. It is home to great herds of deer, elephants, and Gaur. Many
types of monkeys are also seen, as well as those elusive animals, such
as the Slender Loris. Other wild animals that can be sighted here are Panthers,
Jungle Cats, Civet Cats, Wild Dogs, Bisons and Bears. A jeep ride is the
best way to explore the wild attractions of the park. Peacock, Babblers,
Cuckoos, Owl, Woodpecker and Jungle Fowl are few of the numerous birds that
are seen flying in the park.
THIRUNELLY TEMPLE ON THE HILLS ( 20 kms from The JADE):
Surrounded by Kambamala, Karimala and Varadiga, the Thirunelly temple is
a marvel of temple architecture. The shrine is shielded with 30 granite
columns and the ground is paved with huge square pieces of granite. The
crystal clear waters of the Papanasini river running downhill add to the
enchantment of the place.
